Sultry, elegant, insightful and sassy are terms used to describe KarenJ’s sound. Living on "Tulsa Time" relates well to this native daughter. Yes, Karen Johnson, born and raised in the Greenwood, Archer and Pine area of Tulsa, Oklahoma, that gave us Jazz legend Ernie Fields and R&B legends, The Gap Band, has become one of Dallas' best kept secrets. Music has always been a part of her life." She grew up listening to Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, etc. As is typical of many of the great singers of the past, KarenJ started singing in the church. As she grew, so did her talent and popularity. Her popularity lead to performing with local bands in and around the Tulsa area. Musically influenced by the divas of jazz and R&B, KarenJ is able to draw an audience in to "her world."

KarenJ & 2B1 Sounds play a combination of various styles and genres which are enjoyed by music lovers both young and old. The four-member band collectively has over 80+ years of music experience. Their music is a mix of smooth jazz, funk, R&B, pop and old school. Their playlist includes standards and classics by artists such as Sade, Bonnie Raitt, Anita Baker, Randy Crawford, Angie Stone, Maze, The Isley Brothers, Simply Red, Michael McDonald, Denise LaSalle, Carly Simon, & Chaka Khan.
